Nuorttijoki 3550
Situated in the northeast wilderness of the municipality of Savukoski, the Nuorttijoki River empties into Lake Nuorttijärvi on the Russian side of the border. The fishing area covers all waters of the River on the Finnish side of the border up to the border zone.
Nuorttijoki offers hiking anglers approximately 150 km of pristine river and stream waters for fly fishing and casting. Nuorttijoki is also a great destination for canoeing anglers. Returning from the lower reaches of the river is only possible by coming back upstream.
In 2024, the municipal residents of Savukoski will have the opportunity to get a seasonal permit for Nuorttijoki River located within the area of Urho Kekkonen National Park.

Purchasing Information
In Nuorttijoki angling permit area, the customer can choose between a validity period of 3 hours, 24 hours, 7 days or the entire season. The prices of angling permits are as follows:

Persons under 18 years of age can buy the angling permit at half price.
Persons under 15 years of age may fish under the angling permit and within the fishing quota of an adult belonging to the same party, without needing to purchase an angling permit of their own.
A family may purchase a family permit, which costs twice as much and has a fishing quota twice as large as an individual angling permit. A family consists of children under 18 years of age and their parents or legal guardians as well as married and common-law couples.

In 2024, the municipal residents of Savukoski will have the opportunity to get a seasonal permit for Nuorttijoki River located within the area of Urho Kekkonen National Park. Permit terms for the area
For waters within the Urho Kekkonen National Park 1.6.–31.8. For other waters 1.6.–31.12. Trout fishing is prohibited between 1.9.–30.11.Exceptions to the fishing period
Part of Nuorttijoki angling permit area is located in Urho Kekkonen National Park, and fishing in these waters is only allowed during the summer months, 1 June – 31 August.
Fishing gear and bait
An angler may use one (1) rod with a single line. The rod must be held in the angler’s hand or be within reach at all times (no more than 2 metres away).
In Nuorttijoki angling permit area it is absolutely prohibited to use bait fish when hook and line fishing, ice fishing or lure fishing, as per a decree from the Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (no. 1376/2004, 31.12.2004).
Boats, canoes and fishing tackle (reels, rods, lures, landing nets, boots, waders, fish cleaning accessories, etc.) brought in from other waterways must be absolutely dry or they must be disinfected at a disinfection station before being used in Nuorttijoki.
Fishing in a national park
Approximately 20 km of the lower section of the river belongs to Urho Kekkonen National Park. Fishing in these waters is only allowed during the summer months, 1 June – 31 August. The angler must check the special regulations of national parks, among other things regarding restricted areas, landing restrictions and lighting fires. The area's services include several lean-to shelters, huts, cooking shelters, unlocked wilderness cabins and reservable cabins as well as the private tourism services provided by Tulppion Majat.
