Metsähallitus extends the validity of commercial fishing permits

The current commercial fishing permits will remain valid until the end of 2025. Metsähallitus decided to extend the validity of these permits by a year as a digital permit application process will be introduced next year.

All commercial fishing operators will be informed of this decision by a personal letter. The permit will remain valid until the end of 2025 if the permit fee has been paid. Fishing operators can also let Metsähallitus know if they do not need to have their permits extended.

Commercial fishing permits are issued subject to application, and application rounds are announced every five years. Without the extension period the current permits would expire at the end of the year.

Metsähallitus will update its Eräluvat sales channel in late 2024. Next year, commercial fishing permits will also be added to the new service.

The next permit application round for 2026–2030 will be organised using the updated Eräluvat sales channel in 2025. More information on the application period and instructions for applicants will be provided on Eräluvat.fi service later.
