Terms of reservation for huts
Terms of reservation for shared rental huts, rental huts, reservable turf huts, saunas, reservable campfire and camping sites and other facilities of Metsähallitus, Parks & Wildlife Finland.
Valid from 19 November 2024.
1. Applicability
These terms of reservation apply to the contractual relationship between the Customer (as the lodger) and Metsähallitus (as the landlord and service provider) regarding the booking and use of the rental property (shared rental and rental huts, reservable turf huts, saunas, reservable camping sites, campsites and other facilities). A booking of shared rental and rental huts will be regarded as a single booking even if it includes reservations made for several different destinations and for a longer period of time. The terms of reservation enter into force immediately as the booking is made and apply to the contractual relationship between the Customer and Metsähallitus.
2. Acceptance
By making a booking, the Customer affirms that they have familiarised themselves with these terms and accepted them.
In addition to these terms, the Customer also accepts the Terms of purchase and cancellation of Eräluvat.fi service.
3. Bookings
Bookings should primarily be made in Eräluvat.fi online service. When making a booking, the Customer can create a customer account, in which case they do not have to pay for the booking until the due date. Bookings can also be made by contacting Parks & Wildlife Finland’s customer service. The Customer must be aged 18 years or over. A booking made by the Customer is binding.
The Customer will receive information about the key and other necessary details with the order confirmation.
4. Payment and payment terms
The full price of the booking is paid in a single instalment. The booking fee must be paid by the due date. The due date is 14 days before the start date of the booking. If the reservation is made less than 14 days before the start date of the booking or you do not log in to a customer account, the booking must be paid for immediately. If you log in to the online service to make your booking or make it by contacting the customer service and receive a payment link, your reservation will be cancelled automatically unless it is paid for by the due date. A booking made through the customer service for which the Customer is invoiced separately will not be cancelled automatically.
The prices include value added tax at the current rate. Metsähallitus reserves the right to price changes.
Under section 24 of the Act on Metsähallitus (234/2016), provisions on charging fees, interest on late payments, collection of fees and jurisdiction relating to Metsähallitus' public administration duties are laid down in the Act on Criteria for Charges Payable to the State (150/1992).
5. Cancellation or changes
A cancellation will be regarded as having taken place at the time when information of the cancellation reaches Metsähallitus. A change made by contacting the customer service will be deemed as having been received when the message is available to Metsähallitus during the opening hours of the customer service in a receiving device or information system, enabling its processing. If the electronic message has been received by Metsähallitus customer service after opening hours, the cancellation will be regarded as having been received on the next working day of the customer service.
5.1 Unpaid booking
A booking that has not yet been paid for can be cancelled before the due date without a processing fee.
An order placed through the customer service that is paid by a payment link can be cancelled by contacting the customer service. This also applies to self-service orders placed in Eräluvat.fi online service. Both types of orders can also be cancelled by logging in to the online service's customer account if the order is linked to an existing customer account. If the order is not paid for, it will be cancelled automatically after the due date.
An order placed through the customer service and paid by invoice can only be cancelled by contacting Parks & Wildlife Finland customer service. Failure to pay for the reservation is not considered a cancellation. If the invoice has not been paid despite a reminder sent to the Customer, the invoice will be transferred to collection.
Under section 24 of the Act on Metsähallitus (234/2016), the fee for a Metsähallitus’ performance under public law is directly enforceable. Provisions on its collection are laid down in the Act on the Enforcement of Taxes and Public Payments (706/2007).
5.2 Paid booking
If a booking has been paid for, it can be cancelled no later than 14 days before the start date of the booking by contacting Parks & Wildlife Finland customer service.
If the Customer cancels a paid booking less than 14 days before the start date of the booking, the Customer's payment will only be refunded in cases of a force majeure (sudden illness, accident or death of the Customer or their family member). Weather conditions do not entitle the Customer to a refund. In case of an illness or an accident, a medical certificate must be sent within 14 days of the cancellation to the address indicated by Metsähallitus customer service. No refunds of less than EUR 30 (including VAT) will be made.
If a booking is cancelled due to the reasons listed above during the period for which the property has been booked, the booking fee will not be refunded.
6. Metsähallitus' right to cancel a booking
Metsähallitus may cancel the booking in case of a force majeure. In this case, the customer will receive a full refund of the booking fee. However, the customer will not be reimbursed for any other costs that they may have incurred from the cancelled booking contract.
Metsähallitus has the right to cancel the booking if the Customer has not paid their booking invoice by the due date. The Customer must nevertheless pay the booking invoice in full.
Metsähallitus reserves the right to cancel a Customer's booking if the Customer in question has, when making previous bookings, not complied with the instructions given for the rental properties, or otherwise violated the contract on the use of rental properties.
7. Keys
The Customer receives instructions related to keys to the rental property in connection with the booking confirmation. The Customer returns the key to the hut or other rental property they have booked following instructions immediately after the booked period has ended. The Customer must follow the instructions for using the keys issued with the booking confirmation. A service fee of EUR 150 will be charged for neglecting or failing to comply with the instructions, and the cost of a service visit (including VAT) will be added to the invoice.
8. Staying at the rental property
During the booking period, the customer has the right to use the equipment of the hut or sauna they have booked, the beds specified in their booking, or any other facilities they have booked. The customer must bring a receipt of the payment and the booking confirmation to prove that they have made and paid for the booking. The customer must be prepared to show the booking confirmation and receipt to Metsähallitus staff or supervisory authorities.
In shared huts, consideration must be shown towards other users, and silence must be observed between 23:00 and 6:00. The Customer is responsible for keeping the hut and its outside areas tidy for their part. The Customer has a duty to bring their waste away from the rental property. Smoking and disruptive alcohol use at rental properties are prohibited. Each rental property has its specific rules regarding pets. If the rental property is left untidy, Metsähallitus has the right to clean it after the Customer’s stay and invoice the Customer for the costs incurred from this.
The rental period usually starts at 14:00 and ends at 12:00. Exceptional rental periods apply to some properties - this information is always available for the property in question.
9. Hunting and fishing permits
Booking a shared rental or rental hut or other facilities does not entitle the customer to hunt or fish within any hunting or fishing permit area of Metsähallitus at or in the vicinity of the rental property. Hunting and/or fishing permits required in Metsähallitus' areas must ALWAYS be purchased separately, for example in Eräluvat.fi online service.
10. Liability for damage
The Customer is liable to compensate Metsähallitus for any damage they have caused to a property they have booked, its movable property or its outdoor areas but also for losses incurred by Metsähallitus due to third party losses caused by the Customer or this party's inability to use a property.
11. Comments and complaints
Any comments and complaints regarding these terms should always be addressed directly to Metsähallitus without delay. If this is not possible, no satisfactory solution can be found, or the matter involves a claim for compensation, the complaint should be sent to the following address in writing within one month of the end date of the booking period: Metsähallitus, Customer feedback, P.O. Box 80, FI-00521 Helsinki, Finland. Metsähallitus reserves two weeks for processing feedback.
12. Disputes and their resolution
An effort will be made to resolve any disputes between the parties concerning the contract by means of negotiations. If the Customer and Metsähallitus cannot reach an understanding, the Customer may contact the Consumer Advisory Services (kkv.fi). Should they wish, the Customer may refer the dispute to the Consumer Disputes Board. Any disputes concerning the contract will ultimately be resolved by Helsinki District Court.
13. Other points
A certain accommodation capacity expressed as the number of beds that may not be exceeded is given for the huts on the website or otherwise.
Metsähallitus is not liable to compensate the Customer for any nuisance or damage caused by natural conditions such as insects, voles and mice or unexpected weather conditions.
