Lake Syväjärvi is a clear-watered forest lake with two distinct sections that is located some 20 kilometres away from Kuhmo town centre. Both ends of the lake are deep and the shores are steep. The scenery is commanded by dry pine forests and the Syväjärvensärkkä sandbank rising on the north side of the lake. There is an easily traversed beach trail encircling the lake (approx. 6 km) with several campfire sites along the way.
Rainbow trout, which is planted into the lake catch-sized, offers thrilling angling experiences throughout the year. Syväjärvi is also an ideal fishing and hiking destination for families and groups.

The Eräluvat.fi website and the Eräluvat webshop have been merged and renewed. As a result of the update, old customer accounts are no longer be available. Paid permits continue to be valid.
In this permit area, you will need an angling permit for all fishing – including hook and line fishing and ice fishing.
You will also be required to pay the fisheries management fee, unless you are under 18 years of age, over 70 years of age, or are 65 years of age or older as of 31 December 2023. However, the fisheries management fee is not required if you are hook and line fishing or ice fishing with only one rod. If you are hook and line fishing or ice fishing with multiple rods, you are required to purchase an angling permit and pay the fisheries management fee.

There are four rental cottages on the shores of Lake Syväjärvi, which are rented by Lomarengas (lomarengas.fi).
An easy-access beach trail of approximately 6 km goes around the lake. The trail has several campfire sites, a lean-to shelter and a camping area. Caravan area is closed until further notice.
The best fishing spots are at the ends of the lake and near the strait in the middle.
Catch-sized rainbow trout and fry-sized whitefish and grayling are planted into the lake.
