The yard offers a wood-burning sauna, a traditional cellar, a campfire site, a well and a dry toilet.
The southeast-facing shore is about a 100 metres away from the sauna in the yard. The sandy shore is shallow. A rowing boat and a canoe are provided for tenants. No jetty.
Camping in the yard is not allowed.

The keys to the hut open the barrier on the road leading to the yard.
Facilities
Heating and lighting
There are wood-burning stoves in the kitchen-living room and bedrooms. No basic heating. Please use firewood sparingly. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.
Stoves that have been unused for a long time must be carefully “persuaded” with a small kindling so that the smoke doesn’t push in.
In the hut there are solar-powered electric lights. Lighting involves battery-powered lanterns and candles.
We also recommend using a headlamp, which leaves your hands free to do chores around the hut. For safety reasons, candles must be burned on a non-combustible surface and constantly monitored.
Cooking
Solar-powered refrigerator, a gas stove and cooking utensils and tableware for 6 people.
Drinking water
There is no running water in the hut.
The water drawn from the well has been examined and is recommended to be boiled when used for cooking and as drinking water.
Staying overnight
The hut provides lodging in a single bed in the kitchen-living room, two beds in one bedroom, a bunk bed and a single bed in the other bedroom. The beds are equipped with mattresses, pillows and blankets.
Please bring your own linen or a sleeping bag and a towel.
Sauna
The yard offers a wood-burning sauna. There is firewood in the barn and the shed/warehouse.
Toilet
There is a dry toilet near the hut. Please bring your own toilet paper.
Waste disposal
There are no waste containers by the cabin. Visitors are advised to take their accumulated waste with them.
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about hiking without littering (nationalparks.fi).
Instructions on handling sorted waste and mixed waste are available in the Huhtiniemi hut book. Collection points can be found in Kirkkoranta, Kolovesi and Enonkoski, for example.
Other things to keep in mind
There is enough solar electricity to charge small appliances (e.g., telephone) in addition to running the refrigerator. The house features ordinary socket outlets and a socket for a lighter adapter.
There are no accessible services in the hut.
Please clean the hut before you leave. Cleaning equipment is provided.
There is no basic heating in the house.
Safety
Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.
There are fire alarms at wilderness huts, but we recommend to bring a 9 V battery and/or your own travel fire alarm with you.
