Bookings for rental huts for 2026 open on May 5th at Eraluvat.fi
Bookings of rental and shared rental huts, as well as other sites available for booking for 2026, will open on Monday May 5th 2025 at 9:00am on Eraluvat.fi.
Jyrkkävaara shared rental hut is located in a wilderness zone of the Urho Kekkonen National Park. Navigation skills are needed to get to the hut. The hut is not accessible during the thaw. The nearest shops and restaurants are located in Saariselkä. The hut was built in 1968. In the same building there is a open wilderness hut.
A shared rental hut is a reservable place for an overnight stay where you can book a paid bed for 1–2 nights.
Creating a user account is worthwhile. As a logged-in customer, you do not need to pay for your reservation immediately. You can also cancel unpaid reservations yourself. Create a user account.
Tips: Om du bokar stugor, gör separata beställningar för varje utfärd. På så sätt kan du välja att betala varje utfärds bokning först 14 dagar före bokningens början. Changes won't be made to reservations made from May 5, 2025.
The reservation day begins at 2 pm and ends at 12 noon.
Bring along your invoice and proof of payment to the hut.
A foreign company can place an order in the company's name only as an unregistered customer.
The use of the hut and other structures for business operations requires a permit from Metsähallitus. Learn about transfer of rights of use (metsa.fi).
The current permanent campsite has been designed and implemented in cooperation between Metsähallitus and the Finnish Scouts Association. The Scouts have an annual priority booking right to reserve the campsite facilities for the following year during the period 1.5.-31.10. After the priority booking period, anyone can make reservations for the campsite.

Every fishing and hunting area and hut has a page with a map window that shows the location of the destination. In case of permit areas, you can see the borders of the area. Did you know that you can choose what and how information is displayed on the map?
The hut is situated 1 km east of the River Muorravaarakkajoki to the west of Jyrkkävaara Hill.
You can get to the hut on foot or by skis from several starting points. The hut can be reached only in summer from Aittajärvi (ca. 11 km) and the Raja-Jooseppi suspension bridge (ca. 17 km).
The route includes some river crossings. There are bridges by the River Suomujoki at Aitaoja, Kotaköngäs, and Porttikoski and by the River Luttojoki at Raja-Jooseppi.
The closest huts are the Snellmanninmaja open wilderness hut, the Muorravaarakka open wilderness hut and shared rental hut, the Muorravaarakanruoktu rental turf hut, and the Sarvijoki open wilderness hut and shared rental hut.
Read more about the area and more detailed arrival instructions on Nationalparks.fi.
A campfire site, a dry toilet and a woodshed.
You can camp by the campfire sites.
The key is in a key code box on the hut wall. The box is protected with a code. Instructions and the code are sent to you by e-mail after the payment.
Take lock de-icer with you just in case the box's lid is stuck due to frost. Metsähallitus does not have maintenance on site.
The hut has a stove and firewood for heating. Please use firewood sparingly. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.
The hut has no electricity. We recommend using a headlamp, which leaves your hands free to do chores around the hut. For safety reasons, candles must be burned on a non-combustible surface and constantly monitored.
A gas cooker, a saucepan, and a frying pan.
There is no running water in the hut.
River Muorravaarakanjoki is around 1 km from the hut.
It is recommended to boil water from natural sources before consumption. Water quality is not tested. Drink water taken directly from nature at your own risk.
See tips on how to obtain safe drinking water on a hike (Nationalparks.fi).
Two-tiered sleeping platforms, mattresses, pillows.
Please bring your own linen or a sleeping bag.
A shared rental hut is a shared overnight accommodation where hikers sleep in the same space, usually shoulder-to-shoulder in bunk beds.
There is a dry toilet near the hut. Please bring your own toilet paper.
There are no waste containers by the cabin. Visitors are advised to take their accumulated waste with them.
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about hiking without littering (nationalparks.fi).
Please clean the hut before you leave.
Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.
There are fire alarms at wilderness huts, but we recommend to bring a 9 V battery and/or your own travel fire alarm with you.
