Lammasharjunmökki
Built in 1937, the Lammasharjunmökki rental hut is located in the gorgeous national landscape in Punkaharju's esker area on the shore of Lake Pihlajavesi (enthusiastic fishers take note: this lake is rich in fish). The hut is an ideal base camp for making trips to see Punkaharju’s national landscape and its numerous trails and sights. The hut is very popular between June and August.
A rental hut is a place for an overnight stay that can be rented for only your use.
Reservations
The reservation day for reservable and rental huts begins at 2 pm and end at 12 noon.
Bring along your invoice and proof of payment to the hut.
Rental period from 24 May to 29 September 2024. Minimum length of reservation is 2 nights.

Arrival instructions
The Lammasharjunmökki rental hut is located on the shore of Lake Pihlajavesi, close to a water route. The road to the hut turns right soon after Kruunupuisto, Punkaharju. There is pedestrian and bicycle traffic on the road, so please drive carefully. Do not park on any of the routes, just in the hut's yard. The yard is very tight and there is room for only two cars max.
Driving Instructions
In order to reach the Lammasharjunmökki rental hut, drive along the main road no. 14, 30 km from Savonlinna and 90 km from Imatra. From Helsinki, the distance is 370 km. From Punkaharju road no. 4792, turn onto Vaahersalo Road and drive for about 0.7 km. Turn to the right, drive for 30 m and, after the terraced house, turn to the right onto the narrow road leading to the hut. Drive along the road in the vicinity of the shore for about 0.8 km to the destination. There is a lockable boom on the road to the hut. You can open the lock with the hut code.
By Public Transport
Punkaharju is also easily reached by public transport. Lammasharju is 6.3 km away from Punkaharju railway station.
There is a regular bus service (matkahuolto.fi) from Savonlinna and Imatra. The bus stop is located by the Punkaharju esker road at junction of Vaahersalontie Road.
A railbus (vr.fi) stops several times per day at the stations of Punkaharju parish village, Retretti Art Centre, and Lusto, the Finnish Forest Museum.
By Boat
It is easy to get to the hut by boat from Pihlajavesi and Puruvesi along the water route. There is a jetty on the shore where you can dock even with a larger boat.

Yard
The yard has a campfire site and a dry toilet.
There is a jetty for boats on the shore. Ther hut has a rowing boat for tenants to use. The shoreline is sandy, but the water gets deep quickly, so be cautious.
Camping in the yard is prohibited.
Keys
The key is in a key cabinet on the hut wall. The cabinet is protected with a code. Instructions and the code are sent to you by e-mail at the time of booking.
Facilities
Heating and lighting
The hut has electric heating and a wood-burning fireplace and firewood for heating. Please use firewood sparingly. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.
The hut also has electricity and electric lights.
Cooking
An electric cooker and refrigerator, kitchen utensils and tableware for four.
Drinking water
There is no running water or well in the hut.
It is recommended to boil water from natural sources before consumption. Water quality is not tested. Drink water taken directly from nature at your own risk.

Staying overnight
Bunk bed, a bed for one and a sofa. There are mattresses, pillows and blankets.
Please bring your own linen or a sleeping bag.
Sauna
There is a wood-burning sauna by the lake.
Toilet
There is a dry toilet near the hut. Please bring your own toilet paper.
Waste disposal
There are no waste containers by the cabin. Visitors are advised to take their accumulated waste with them.
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about hiking without littering (nationalparks.fi).
Empty the fireplaces of the hut and sauna into the ash container behind the sauna.

Other things to keep in mind
There are no accessible services in the hut.
Please clean the hut before you leave.
Safety
Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.
There are fire alarms at wilderness huts, but we recommend to bring a 9 V battery and/or your own travel fire alarm with you.
