Pikku-Hossa rental hut is a traditional small wilderness cottage built in the early 1950s at the point of Kenttäjärvi's narrow and handsome Säijynniemi cape. The peninsula has been inhabited as early as in the Stone Age. The cottage is very simple and has no electricity or running water. Pikku-Hossa has a living room and a bed alcove. Sauna is in the same building.
A rental hut is a place for an overnight stay that can be rented for only your use.
Creating a user account is worthwhile. As a logged-in customer, you do not need to pay for your reservation immediately. You can also cancel unpaid reservations yourself. Create a user account.
Tip: If you reserve huts for multiple trips, make separate orders for each trip. This way, you can choose to pay for each trip's reservation only 14 days before the start of the reservation. Changes won't be made to reservations made from May 5, 2025.
The reservation day for shared rental huts, rental huts and other rental structures begins at 2 pm and ends at 12 noon.
Bring along your invoice and proof of payment to the hut.
By following the hut etiquette, you ensure that the use of hut is smooth. Learn about the hut etiquette (luontoon.fi).
A foreign company can place an order in the company's name only as an unregistered customer.

Every fishing and hunting area and hut has a page with a map window that shows the location of the destination. In case of permit areas, you can see the borders of the area. Did you know that you can choose what and how information is displayed on the map?
After the Hossa Visitor Centre, drive along Jatkonsalmentie Road for slightly less than 3 km and turn to the left. The road runs to the yard of the hut.
Note: different map/navigation programs may direct the arrival to the hut incorrectly. Please verify the hut's location and route on the map.
Distances: Hossa Visitor Centre 3 km, the village of Hossa 8 km and Juntusranta about 35 km. No neighbours.
Read more about the area and more detailed arrival instructions on Nationalparks.fi.
The cottage is located on a narrow isthmus with gorgeous lake landscapes opening up on both sides of the hut.
The natural beach in front of the hut is good for swimming, the distance from the hut is 3 m.
A boat with life jackets on the shore that is included in the hut rental.
A building with a dry toilet and a shed near the hut.
The key is in a key code box on the hut wall. The box is protected with a code. Instructions and the code are sent to you by e-mail after the payment.
Take lock de-icer with you just in case the box's lid is stuck due to frost. Metsähallitus does not have maintenance on site.
The hut has a stove and firewood for heating. Please use firewood sparingly. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.
The hut has no electricity. We recommend using a headlamp, which leaves your hands free to do chores around the hut. For safety reasons, candles must be burned on a non-combustible surface and constantly monitored.
Gas stove (no oven), root cellar, basic cookware and cooking equipment for two people.
We recommend bringing your own portable stove.
There is no running water in the hut.
Drinking water can be collected from a nearby spring or you can get it from the Visitor Centre.
It is recommended to boil water from natural sources before consumption. Water quality is not tested. Drink water taken directly from nature at your own risk.
See tips on how to obtain safe drinking water on a hike (Nationalparks.fi).
Two bunkbeds, beddings for two persons, no bed linen.
Please bring your own linen or a sleeping bag.
Hossa Visitor Centre rents out linen.
Sauna is in the same building. More detailed instructions can be found in the hut folder.
There is a dry toilet near the hut. Please bring your own toilet paper.
There are no waste containers by the cabin. Visitors are advised to take their accumulated waste with them.
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about hiking without littering (nationalparks.fi).
The hut will not be pre-heated before the beginning of the booking period.
Please clean the hut before you leave.
Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.
There are fire alarms at wilderness huts, but we recommend to bring a 9 V battery and/or your own travel fire alarm with you.
