Arrival instructions

  • The distance by boat from Partakko to the hut is about 10 km, and the walking distance along the very difficult mire terrain is about 15 km; the path has not been marked. We recommend that you get to the hut using your own boat or a rental boat. In winter, ski or snowmobile to the hut.

  • For enquiries on transport services, please contact the local entrepreneurs.

  • The distance to the closest neighbour is 8 km. The closest villages are Partakko at a distance of 8 km (the Ivalo – Näätämö coach stop) and Kaamanen at a distance of 50 km, where you will find a grocery shop and a petrol sales point.

Access in Summer

  • From the Sevettijärvi – Näätämö road (Road no. 971) in the village of Partakko, where you will find a parking area and a boat launching ramp into Lake Inarijärvi (in Finnish).

Access in Winter

Yard

  • There is a sauna, a root cellar, a campfire site and a dry toilet outside.

  • There is a good jetty by the lake, which is a satisfactory swimming place, but not an official swimming spot. There is no rowing boat.

Keys

The key is in a key cabinet on the hut wall. The cabinet is protected with a code. Instructions and the code are sent to you by e-mail at the time of booking.

Facilities

Heating and lighting

  • The hut has a stove and firewood for heating. Please use firewood sparingly. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.

  • The hut has a solar panel, a regular electrical outlet, and a 12V socket, but as the sunlight decreases, its power decreases.

  • We also recommend using a headlamp, which leaves your hands free to do chores around the hut. For safety reasons, candles must be burned on a non-combustible surface and constantly monitored.

Cooking

A gas stove.

Drinking water

Staying overnight

  • Two bunk beds, matresses, pillows and blankets.

  • Please bring your own linen or a sleeping bag.

Sauna

The sauna is in a separate building and has a small changing room.

Toilet

There is a dry toilet near the hut. Please bring your own toilet paper.

Waste disposal

There are waste containers by the cabin but visitors are advised to take their accumulated waste with them.

Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about hiking without littering (nationalparks.fi).

Other things to keep in mind

  • The hut is located in a reindeer herding area, take into account the free-grazing reindeer and keep your dog on a leash.

  • Please clean the hut before you leave.

Safety

  • Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.

  • There are fire alarms at wilderness huts, but we recommend to bring a 9 V battery and/or your own travel fire alarm with you.

  • Read more about the area and its current information at Nationalparks.fi.
