The permit covers state-owned water areas in the municipalities of Kolari, Kittilä and Muonio.

Permits needed for fishing

Trap fishing in this permit area always requires a trap permit. You will also be required to pay the fisheries management fee, unless you are under 18 years of age, over 70 years of age, or are 65 years of age or older as of 31 December 2023.

The trap permit for this area only entitles you to fish waters specified in the water area directory and marked in the map window on this page. The latitude line of 67°00’N passes through the permit area, south of which fishers are allowed to use a maximum of 240 metres of nets per fishing or boating party in accordance with section 49 of the Fishing Act. This restriction does not apply to commercial fishing operators.

All other waters of this permit area are located north of the above-mentioned latitude, except Lake Laukkujärvi and Hallilahti (located at the southern end of Lake Aalisjärvi).
