Trap permit area

The permit covers in total 654 hectars of state-owned water areas in the River Ounasjoki in between the borders of municipalities of Sinettä and Enontekiö. The waters of this permit area are located in Rovaniemi and Kittilä.

Permits needed for fishing

Trap fishing in this permit area always requires a trap permit. You will also be required to pay the fisheries management fee, unless you are under 18 years of age, over 70 years of age, or are 65 years of age or older as of 31 December 2023.

The latitude line of 67°00’N passes through the permit area, south of which fishers are allowed to use a maximum of 240 metres of nets per fishing or boating party in accordance with section 49 of the Fishing Act. This restriction does not apply to commercial fishing operators.
