The Langinkoski angling permit area is located within Langinkoski nature preserve in the immediate vicinity of the city centre of Kotka. The permit area covers the lowermost rapids section of the Langinkoski branch of the Kymijoki River. The fishing lodge built for Emperor Alexander III of Russia is situated by the rapids.
Langinkoski Rapids offer anglers culturally significant landscapes and the best chance in Southern Finland to catch large sea trout with a fly.

Not all information on angling permit areas has yet been translated into English and Swedish on the renewed Eräluvat.fi service. For this reason, not all angling permits can yet be purchased as a self-service. However, the permits can be purchased through Eräluvat customer service.

Every fishing and hunting area and hut has a page with a map window that shows the location of the destination. In case of permit areas, you can see the borders of the area. Did you know that you can choose what and how information is displayed on the map?
The number of anglers is restricted. No more than eight persons may fish simultaneously in the Langinkoski permit area. Please check in advance whether permits are available for the desired time period.
In this permit area, you will need an angling permit for all types of fishing. You will also be required to pay the fisheries management fee, unless you are under 18 years of age, over 70 years of age, or are 65 years of age or older as of 31 December 2023.
Hook and line fishing and ice fishing are fully prohibited in rapids and running sections of waters with migratory fish stocks (i.e. also this permit area). In still waters, such as river pools, hook and line fishing and ice fishing are permitted with one rod with an angling permit. If you are hook and line fishing or ice fishing with more than one rod, you are required to purchase an angling permit and pay the fisheries management fee.
Please note that the Langinkoski angling permit area practically comprises of flowing water only.
Only fly fishing is allowed in the permit area.

Langinkoski angling permit area is located near Kotka city center, so the services of the city of Kotka are nearby.
There is a villa built for Alexander III of Russia in the immediate vicinity of the rapids. During the summer it serves as a museum.
The number of natural fry in the river is annually followed with the help of electrofishing and smolt screw traps. Slight improvement has been observed in the side channels.
The Kymijoki River has native salmon and sea trout populations. To protect these populations, catching native fish (= fish with their adipose fin intact) is prohibited. There are no plantings at Langinkoski Rapids, but other sections of the Kymijoki River are stocked with migratory fry of salmon and sea trout (= fish without adipose fins).
