Hannukuru Hannu shared rental hut is a demanding wilderness destination. The hut is not accessible during the thaw. The hut is located halfway along the Hetta–Pallas summer trail in Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. The hut offers beds for hikers on this popular route. In spring, access may be possible via a maintained ski trail, but at other times, reaching it requires good navigation skills due to demanding and unpredictable weather conditions, with only a few hours of daylight during winter.

Peak times include Easter and the autumn´'ruska' season. The yard can become crowded, as it also attracts hikers making a single stop along the Hetta-Pallas summer trail. The shared rental hut has two sides, named Hanna and Hannu, with a total of 24 beds (12 in each side). The huts share a drying room equipped with a wood stove.

A shared rental hut is a reservable place for an overnight stay where you can book a paid bed for 1–2 nights.

Waste disposal

There are no waste containers by the cabin. Visitors are advised to take their accumulated waste with them.

Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about hiking without littering (nationalparks.fi).

  • Recycling points can be found at Fell Lapland Visitor Centre and Pallastunturi.

Other things to keep in mind

  • The firewood should only be used for heating the huts. Making campfires outdoors is prohibited if the hut does not have an official campfire site.

  • Please clean the hut before you leave.

Safety

  • Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.

  • There are fire alarms at wilderness huts, but we recommend to bring a 9 V battery and/or your own travel fire alarm with you.

  • Read more about the area and its current information at Nationalparks.fi.
