Horsemen lodged in Heretty rental hut Loggers' Cabin between the years 1947-1970. After the cabin was restored Heretty has been the main guidance point in Isojärvi National Park. Nowadays there is a summer cafe in former loggers' and hostess' quarter. There are two rental rooms (17 m2 / room) at the "sharp end" of the cabin where used to sleep the foremen. Vestibule and sauna are shared.

Driving instructions

When going to Heretty parking area, drive from the road 9 (Tampere - Jyväskylä), follow the National Park signs for 14 km from Länkipohja or 17 km from Kuhmoinen.

By public transportation

The nearest bus stops to the National Park are located in Länkipohja (14 km) and in Kuhmoinen (17 km).

Yard

  • The yard area is a flat lawn and is located next to the Kuhmoinen - Länkipohja road. The hiking trail starts from the corner of the house.

  • At the other end of the building is a summer cafe and it's the main guidance point in National Park so there are hikers moving in the yard.

  • Separate dry toilet, recycling point and a modest cellar.

  • It is not allowed to camp in the yard.

Keys

The key is in a key cabinet on the hut wall. The cabinet is protected with a code. Instructions and the code are sent to you by e-mail at the time of booking.

Facilities

Heating and lighting

  • The hut has electric heating, a round fireplace and firewood for heating. Please use firewood sparingly. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.

  • The hut has electricity and electric lighting.

Cooking

One electric cooker, kitchen utensils (frying pan, pots) and tableware for four.

Drinking water

  • There is no running water in the hut.

  • Drinking water and water for sauna can be taken from the well in the yard.

Staying overnight

  • There are a bunk bed, one separate bed and one extra mattress in both rooms. Pillows and blankets for four persons.

  • Please bring your own linen or a sleeping bag.

Sauna

Wood-heated sauna in the yard. Sauna is in shared use with both rooms.

Toilet

There is a dry toilet near the hut. Please bring your own toilet paper.

Other things to keep in mind

  • There are no accessible services in the huts.

  • Please clean the hut before you leave.

Safety

  • Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.

  • There are fire alarms at wilderness huts, but we recommend to bring a 9 V battery and/or your own travel fire alarm with you.
