Drive for roughly 1.5 km along Kanteluksentie, at which point there is a parking area on the right-hand side of the road with a toilet, information board and a sign that reads "Kanteluksentie 211". From the Pirttilahti parking area, there is a roughly 250-metre walk to the Hyypiö Hut.

Several express coaches (expressbus.com) travel daily along Highway 2. The nearest bus stop is located on Highway 2 at the Kyynäräntie junction. The distance from the bus stop to Hyypiö is some 3 km.

Facilities
Heating and lighting
The cabin has wood heating. The kitchen has a wood-burning stove and there is a heating stove in the main room. Please use firewood sparingly. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.
The hut has no electricity. We recommend using a headlamp, which leaves your hands free to do chores around the hut. For safety reasons, candles must be burned on a non-combustible surface and constantly monitored.
Cooking
A wood-burning stove and a gas cooker, tableware and cooking utensils.
Drinking water
There is no running water in the hut.
The Harju well located beside the Sauna is also meant for hikers. The water in Harju well is good domestic water (May 2023).
It is recommended to boil water from natural sources before consumption. Water quality is not tested. Drink water taken directly from nature at your own risk.
See tips on how to obtain safe drinking water on a hike (Nationalparks.fi).
Staying overnight
There are two bunk beds in the main room with mattresses, blankets, and pillows.
Please bring your own linen or a sleeping bag.
Sauna
The sauna is near the cabin (the distance to the lake is roughly 50 metres).
The smoke sauna is available on reservation only. The heating season for the smoke sauna is 1.5. - 31.10. The smoke sauna can only be booked if you have booked the hut.
For reservations and queries concerning the smoke sauna contact: Metsähallitus, Parks & Wildlife Finland, tel int. +358 206 39 5270, sisasuomi(at)metsa.fi. The hut caretaker is responsible for heating the smoke sauna.

Safety
Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.
There are fire alarms at wilderness huts, but we recommend to bring a 9 V battery and/or your own travel fire alarm with you.
