Selkä-Sarven vartiotupa
Selkä-Sarven vartiotupa rental hut is the Coast Guard's former guardhouse. It's located at the northern end of Selkä-Sarvi Island, in the Bothnian Bay National Park. There is no land connection or boat transport to the island. Please consider the ice conditions when heading to Selkä-Sarvi in winter. There is no marked route to the island. You can follow the current ice and weather conditions on the Finnish Meteorological Institute's website (ilmatieteenlaitos.fi). The hut also has a sauna.
A rental hut is a place for an overnight stay that can be rented for only your use.
Reservations
The reservation day for reservable and rental huts begins at 2 pm and end at 12 noon.
Bring along your invoice and proof of payment to the hut.

Arrival instructions
The boat landing site is located at the nearby excursion harbour.
Please consider the ice conditions when heading to Selkä-Sarvi in winter. There is no marked route to the island.

Yard
There is a barbecue hut, a campfire site, a woodshed and a dry toilet at the hut's yard for shared use.
The Kokko Rental Hut as well as the Kalla Open Wilderness Hut and the Ailinpieti fishing base are located in the southern part of Selkä-Sarvi Island. There is a nature trail (about 1 km) to the Ailinpieti fishing base.
Keys
The key is in a key cabinet on the hut wall. The cabinet is protected with a code. Instructions and the code are sent to you by e-mail at the time of booking.
Facilities
Heating and lighting
The hut has an open fireplace and firewood for heating. Please use firewood sparingly. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.
Solar powered electricity for lightning and charching equipment.
We recommend using a headlamp, which leaves your hands free to do chores around the hut. For safety reasons, candles must be burned on a non-combustible surface and constantly monitored.
Cooking
A gas stove and crockery.
Drinking water
There is no running water in the hut.
You must bring your own drinking water.
Staying overnight
Bunk beds, mattresses, pillows and blankets.
Please bring your own linen or a sleeping bag.
Sauna
There is a wood heated rental sauna for shared use at the excursion harbour. Sauna fee is icluded in this hut's rental price.
Toilet
There is a dry toilet near the hut. Please bring your own toilet paper.
Waste disposal
There are no waste containers by the cabin. Visitors are advised to take their accumulated waste with them.
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about hiking without littering (nationalparks.fi).
Other things to keep in mind
There is no smoking allowed in the hut.
There are no accessible services in the hut.
Please clean the hut before you leave.
Safety
Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.
There are fire alarms at wilderness huts, but we recommend to bring a 9 V battery and/or your own travel fire alarm with you.
