Sioskuru
Sioskuru shared rental hut is a demanding wilderness destination. The hut is not accessible during the thaw. The hut is located in Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park along the Hetta–Pallas trail, at the tree line sheltered by mountain birch forest. The hut is ideal for hikers who appreciate sleeping in a bed and want to secure a sleeping spot on this popular route. In spring time, hut may be accessible via a maintained ski trail, but at other times hikers must have strong navigation skills to manage challenging conditions, as daylight hours are short in winter and weather can change rapidly. The busiest times are around Easter and the autumn "ruska" season. The building also includes an open wilderness hut for 16 people.
A shared rental hut is a reservable place for an overnight stay where you can book a paid bed for 1–2 nights.
Reservations
The reservation day for shared rental huts and rental huts begins at 2 pm and end at 12 noon.
Bring along your invoice and proof of payment to the hut.
The use of huts and other structures in business operations requires a permit from Metsähallitus (metsa.fi).
Shared rental huts are meant for those travelling by foot, skis or other means of physical movement (not motorized vehicles).
Hiking and skiing groups of partner entrepreneurs in the national park can book shared rental huts on the Hetta-Pallas Hiking Trail between:
1 March and 30 April two times/entrepreneur
1 June and 15 October three times/entrepreneur
at other times no more than six times/entrepreneur.

Yard
There is a campfire site, dry toilet and wood shed on the hut grounds.
The grounds are rocky in some places, but there are several good campsites.
When planning camping with a large group of over 10 people, fill in a notification for Metsähallitus (metsa.fi).
Keys
The key is in a key cabinet on the hut wall. The cabinet is protected with a code. Instructions and the code are sent to you by e-mail at the time of booking.
Facilities
Heating and lighting
The hut has a wood-burning stove and firewood for heating. Please use firewood sparingly. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.
The hut has no electricity. We recommend using a headlamp, which leaves your hands free to do chores around the hut. For safety reasons, candles must be burned on a non-combustible surface and constantly monitored.
Cooking
A gas stove and basic cookware (pot, frying pan, coffee pot).
There are no spoons, forks or other utensils in the hut.
Drinking water
There is no running water in the hut.
There is a stream approximately 50 metres from the hut. It is recommended to boil water from natural sources before consumption. Water quality is not tested. Drink water taken directly from nature at your own risk.
See tips on how to obtain safe drinking water on a hike (Nationalparks.fi).
Staying overnight
There are a total of 8 bed places, two upper bunk beds and 6 platform beds. Mattresses, pillows and blankets.
Please bring your own linen or a sleeping bag.
A shared rental hut is a shared overnight accommodation where hikers sleep in the same space, usually shoulder-to-shoulder in bunk beds.
Toilet
There is a dry toilet near the hut. Please bring your own toilet paper.
Waste disposal
There are no waste containers by the cabin. Visitors are advised to take their accumulated waste with them.
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about hiking without littering (nationalparks.fi).
Recycling points can be found at Pallastunturi, Fell Lapland Visitor Centre and Yllästunturi Visitor Centre Kellokas.
Other things to keep in mind
The firewood should only be used for heating the huts. Making campfires outdoors is prohibited if the hut does not have an official campfire site.
Please clean the hut before you leave.
Safety
Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.
There are fire alarms at wilderness huts, but we recommend to bring a 9 V battery and/or your own travel fire alarm with you.
