  • There is a rowing boat by the hut and the other one by Sammakkojärven sahi (500m away from Sammakkotammi towards Uitto) for transporting your belongings.

  • The locked firewood shed in the outbuilding of the hut includes a waste sorting point and chopped firewood for tenants of the hut.

  • The Uitonkämppä courtyard intersects the Tiilikan kierto Trail, so you might meet other visitors around in the courtyard.

  • Camping in the hut courtyard is forbidden.

Keys

The key is in a key cabinet on the hut wall. The cabinet is protected with a code. Instructions and the code are sent to you by e-mail at the time of booking.

  • Always keep the keys inside the key box, so they won’t get lost or locked inside the hut.

  • The key to the boat at Sammakkojärven sahi is in the key box on the wall of the equipment shelter nearby. The key combination is the same as for the Uitonkämppä rental hut.

Facilities

Heating and lighting

  • Fireplace in the hut, cooking stove in the kitchen, a fireplace in the small room next to kitchen and firewood for heating. Please use firewood sparingly. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.

  • Solar panel powered lights and 12V charging facility (a cigarette lighter socket).

  • We recommend using a headlamp, which leaves your hands free to do chores around the hut. For safety reasons, candles must be burned on a non-combustible surface and constantly monitored.

Cooking

  • A gas stove (with a small oven) and a gas refrigerator.

  • A selection of cooking utensils, such as pots, pans, baking dishes, mixing bowls, measures, ladles, knives.

  • Cutlery and utensils, such as various plates, mugs, glasses, forks, knives and spoons.

Drinking water

  • There is no running water in the hut.

  • A drinking water well in the yard. The quality of water does fill the requirements set for the household water (2022). You don't need to boil the water before use.

Staying overnight

  • There are 12 beds in the main room, 4 in each bedroom and 2 in the kitchen, (mattresses, pillows and quilts for 9 persons).

  • Please bring your own linen or a sleeping bag.

Sauna

  • There is a spacious wood-heated sauna in the yard.

  • The sauna also has lighting powered by solar panels.

Toilet

There is a dry toilet near the hut. Please bring your own toilet paper.

Other things to keep in mind

  • The Uitonkämppä campfire site and dry toilet are available to all visitors.

  • Pets are allowed in the main room but not in the kitchen and the bedroom next to the kitchen.

  • There are no accessible services in the hut.

  • Please clean the hut before you leave.

Safety

  • Although Finland has a broad network for mobile phones, there are some areas in the park without signal. If this happens try to climb to a higher place or go into an open area. Check the mobile network coverage with your mobile phone operator before your trip.

  • There are fire alarms at wilderness huts, but we recommend to bring a 9 V battery and/or your own travel fire alarm with you.

  • Read more about the area and its current information at Nationalparks.fi.
